AMD has announced a serie of 2014 APU graphics processor for desktop codename " Kaveri " . Built on new FM2 + foundation, APU is running on motherboards support socket FM2 + and uses the AMD A88X , A78 , A55 chipset, while this socket is still able to go along with the APU FM2 such as " Trinity " and " Richland " . In many ways, this interchange is similar to socket AM3 + . It can be seen AMD has integrated two new architecture component of CPU and GPU for " Kaveri " including " Steamroller " for CPU and Graphics CoreNext 2.0 for GPU. And " Kaveri " is also built on 28 nm process .
" Steamroller " is a technology evolves modular design similar to the 2 predecessor " Piledriver " and " Bulldozer " . AMD promises a 10% performance improvement clock - by - clock per core.
GPU inside the A - Series " Kaveri " Apus is the most powerful GPU that AMD has been integrated into the APU for computer , even though it still can not be compared to the APU inside Xbox One and Playstation 4 . Based on the architecture of graphics CoreNext 2.0 , " Kaveri " has eight GNC computing units, create 512 series processors , and 32 TMU . GPU supports DirectX 11.2 , OpenGL 4.3, and Mantle . it also had AMD TrueAudio launched with Radeon R9 290 . GPU also supports display resolution of 3840 x 2160 HD Ultra with 60Hz refresh rate via Display Port 1.2 . It also supports 4 screen outputs.
AMD also has developed a new generation of integrated memory controller ( IMC ) on Kaveri . It supports up to 64GB of dual chanel memory DDR3 - 2400MHz . The biggest feature to mention is the id HUMA ( unified heterogeneous access memory ) , the features that has a fixed partition memory between the system ( CPU ) and shared memory graphics ( GPU ) , but CPU and GPU also enables access to the same memory at the same time. Second highlight of Uncore part is PCI- Express root complex help increasing CrossFire performance .
AMD APU series opened in 2014 with 3 models , A10 - 7850K ,A10 - 7700K and A8 - 7600 . A10 - 7850K and A10 - 7700K will be gifted with Battlefield 4 keys, and these 2 chip seems to meet the minimum requirements of this game .
